The ITU stands for the International Triathlon Union – it is the internationally recognized governing body set up in 1989 to over see and host both men’s and women’s Triathlon events across the globe.
There are a series of races that culminate in the eventual winner and the Grand Final race. Athletes compete with the goal of obtaining points that crown the eventual winner the ITU world champion.
